Vision

The Social Ethics Society is a premier philosophical association that is committed in developing cutting edge research and promoting the scholarly outputs of its members.

Mission

The Social Ethics Society organizes conferences, trainings, and seminars on applied ethics, politics and culture, development theory, and the social sciences. The outcomes of these endeavors are competent and highly capable leaders in their chosen field of expertise. They are expected to engage with state and non-state actors toward the achievement of meaningful goals that benefit Mindanao and Philippine society, as well as the global community.

Goals

1. To deepen the ethical and philosophical reflections on important social, political, cultural, and development issues in the Philippines;

2. To advance the skills, abilities, and knowledge of its members through linkages, workshops, and research activities with its partner institutions and organizations; 

3. To publish journals, books, monographs, and training modules for use in the academe and in other institutions of higher learning in the country;

4. To develop advocacy projects and programs in cooperation with the government and non-state actors, as well as other cause-oriented groups;

5. To strengthen its work and linkages with its international partners to provide its members the opportunity to pursue world-class training and research.

Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum

The Social Ethics Society, in cooperation with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the Philosophy Department of Mindanao State University - Main, and North Valley College, invite you to a public forum, Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum, this coming May 20, 2026, (Wednesday) from 1PM to 6PM via ZOOM.  This activity intends to gather the voices and ideas from Mindanao and others - the Jesuit and Catholic identity of education, the perspectives of Muslim Filipinos, Lumads, professors and young teachers, including those teaching basic education and the vantage points of college students. Dr. Jeremiah Joven Joaquin of DLSU will provide the history and context of the General Education Curriculum in the Philippines.
