SES to launch Covid-19 Research Project

The Social Ethics Society will launch its Covid-19 Philosophical Research Project. This initiative seeks to document the research output (papers, articles, conference presentations) of its select members. The goal of the research is to examine the social, political, and philosophical implications of the pandemic. The researchers involved in this project are Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (AdDU), Fr. Dexter Veloso (St. Francis Xavier Seminary), Dr. Rogelio Bayod (Cor Jesu), Mr. Aldrin Quintero (NDMU), and Mr. Gerry Arambala (LSU). The SES recognizes the support of Dr. Darryl Macer of the Eubios Ethics Institute to the members of the SES in the dissemination of their researches.

  The Social Ethics Society is grateful to the American University of Sovereign Nations for the enormous opportunity it has given to the society's members, two of whom are currently enrolled in the doctoral program, namely Fr. Dexter Veloso and Mr. Aldrin Quintero. Dr. Rogelio Bayod, who recently graduated at AUSN, and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, are now part of the roster of its visiting professors. Dr. Bayod focuses on development and IP issues while Dr. Maboloc works on global justice. The AUSN is based in Arizona, USA and offers various graduate programs in bioethics, sustainability and global public health.

Prof. Arambala's Study on Amartya Sen included in Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society

Prof. Gerry Arambala's paper "Capability Approach and Human Development" is included in the book Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society, which was published recently. Edited by Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, the book includes articles written by Karl Gaspar, Darryl Macer, Benjiemen Labastin, Ruby Suazo, and Daniel Mishori. Prof. Arambala's work on Amartya Sen has been published also in the Asian Journal of Comparative Politics where he examines the relation between genetics and the CA. Meanwhile, the book on ethics is now the textbook used by a select group of professors at Ateneo de Davao University, Notre Dame of Marbel University, La Salle University, Cor Jesu College, and Cebu Technological University, among others.

Dr. Rogelio Bayod is Visiting Professor at AUSN

Dr. Rogelio Bayod has been invited to be a Visiting Professor at the American University of Sovereign Nations (AUSN). Dr. Darryl Macer extended the invitation to Dr. Bayod, who will focus in the area of Indigenous Ethics. Dr. Bayod has a degree in Development from the University of Southeastern Philippines. He has also recently finished another doctoral degree from AUSN. He has published papers here and abroad. His work on recognitive justice has been included in the book Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society.

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc is Visiting Professor at American University of Sovereign Nations

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc has been invited by Dr. Darryl Macer, AUSN President, to be a Visiting Professor at the American University of Sovereign Nations, which is based in Arizona, USA. He will be working in the field of Global Justice. Dr. Maboloc has a doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of San Carlos, maxima cum laude. He holds a joint masters in Applied Ethics from Linköping University in Sweden and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He also finished a master's in philosophy at Ateneo de Manila University. He graduated AB Philosophy, cum laude, at Ateneo de Davao University. Dr. Maboloc is the co-editor of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy and is an associate professor at Ateneo de Davao University. He has published 42 academic papers here and abroad. He has presented his studies at Nagoya University, Chulalongkorn University, and Kumamoto University, among others. He has delivered more than 50 public lectures at various co
