Call for Papers: Philippine Politics and Culture Conference 4


The Social Ethics Society, in coordination with Cor Jesu College, will hold the 4th International Conference on Philippine Politics and Culture on April 22-23, 2022 with the theme "Radical Politics and the Future of Philippine Democracy." Dr. Jeffry Ocay, the country's most prominent critical theorist from the South, will give the Keynote Lecture during the event. Other distinguished speakers in the virtual conference include Dr. Juichiro Tanabe (Waseda University), Dr. Rey Montesclaros (MSU-IIT), Prof. Ian Clark Parcon (AdDU), Ms. Asuna Yoshizawa (Kyoto University) and PD Bruce Colao (DILG).

Papers related to Philippine Politics and Governance, Education and Poverty, Ethics and Difference Politics, and Critical Theory, are welcome. Please send a 300-word abstract to Dr. Rogelio Bayod, the co-convenor (Email: roger.bayod@gmail.com). All papers presented during the conference will be considered for the Special Issue of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy after peer review. Deadline for the submission of abstract is March 31, 2022.

Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum

The Social Ethics Society, in cooperation with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the Philosophy Department of Mindanao State University - Main, and North Valley College, invite you to a public forum, Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum, this coming May 20, 2026, (Wednesday) from 1PM to 6PM via ZOOM.  This activity intends to gather the voices and ideas from Mindanao and others - the Jesuit and Catholic identity of education, the perspectives of Muslim Filipinos, Lumads, professors and young teachers, including those teaching basic education and the vantage points of college students.
