Dr. Godiva Eviota-Rivera of the Mindanao State University in Marawi has been elected as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Social Ethics Society during the recently concluded 15th annual conference of the organization held February 6-7, 2025 at Mergrande Resort in Davao City. This comes as a result of the resignation of the Dr. Moises Torrentira, Jr. Dr. Rivera, a professor of Philosophy at MSU, will assume the post and will serve until 2027. Dr. Rivera is a peace advocate. She is the president of the University of San Carlos Graduate Philosophy Students Association.
The SES is the first philosophical association in Mindanao. It has a total nationwide membership of 140 as of this year. It manages its own journal and boasts of more than 40 members with doctoral degrees. Recent projects include book publishing and research collaboration with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, the latter being led by Dr. Ian Clark Parcon. The plans in the near future include the Sustainability Conference to be hosted by Bohol Island State University and the Politics and Culture Conference in Japan.
