Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc wins Best Paper in the 22nd Asian Bioethics Conference


Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc won the BEST PAPER Award in the recently concluded 22nd Asian Bioethics Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Maboloc's research is "Bioethics as the love of life and Post-Human Ethics after Covid-19." The award was announced by Dr. Ravi Moorthy, president of the Asian Bioethics Association. 


The event, hosted by the International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by 62 researchers, global public health experts, and ethics scholars from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. The conference tackled global public health security and the ethics of emerging technologies, among others. 


Dr. Maboloc's research traced the changes from humanism to post-humanism. He also discussed key developments in Artificial Intelligence and how it influences human behavior. Drawing from the work of Darryl Macer, he argued that modern technology can be harmonized with human life as well as our deepest universal values. 


Dr. Darryl Macer, President of the American University of Sovereign Nations (AUSN) and Secretary General of the Asian Bioethics Association, gave the Keynote Speech. The theme of the conference was "Challenges to Bioethics in the Era of the Pandemic." A Round Table on Global Health Security was also held as part of the conference. 

Fr. Dexter Veloso, PhD, the president of the Social Ethics Society (SES), and Dr. Aldrin Quintero, past president of the SES, attended the conference. Both have recently finished their doctorate degrees in global public health at the American University of Sovereign Nations. Dr. Quintero presented his excellent research on disaster ethics on the final day of the event.

Professor Thomas Pogge of Yale University will be the mentor of Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc in the ASAP Global Justice Program Fellowship at Yale University. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc just published his 90th Philosophy Paper

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of the Philosophy Department of Ateneo de Davao University has published his 90th philosophy paper. He co-authored an article entitled "An Ethics of Justice for the Elderly: Ageism and the Covid-19 Pandemic" with Dr. Anesito Cutillas of Cebu Technological University. The study was published in Community Health Equity Research and Policy, a Sage journal indexed by Clarivate Analytics and Scopus.  He has published papers under Springer, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Philosophy Documentation Center, and Sage.
