AdDU philosophy prof tops AD Scientific Index Rankings (Philippines) in Philosophy for the third straight year

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, an associate professor at Ateneo de Davao University, has been ranked first in the Subfield Philosophy for the third straight year (2023, 2024, 2025) in the Alper-Doger AD Scientific Index. The AD Scientific Index uses the database of Google Scholar to track the published papers and citations of academics around the world. The H-index is an indicator of the quality and value of a scholar's research work.

According to Judy Hunter, "ideas are the currency in academia," adding that citations are important "to track the genealogy of ideas or their sources and origin". Citations, in this regard, will enable a researcher to recognize the valuable intellectual contributions of a fellow researcher. According to Dr. Jordan Peterson, more than 80% of papers in the Humanities do not get cited. In this sense, getting cited is a proof of the rigor of one's scholarly work.

The AD Scientific Index ranks scholars in the Social Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Biology, Education, Theology, History and Philosophy, among others. It listed at least 79 published academics in the Subfield of Philosophy in the Philippines. The recent rankings have familiar and new names. Others have also dropped from the top 10. The Philippines' Top 10 AD Scientific Index (2025) for Philosophy are as follows:

1. Christopher Ryan Maboloc - Ateneo de Davao University

2. Henry Francis Espiritu - University of the Philippines Diliman

3. Joel Bual - University of Negros Occidental Recoletos
