Context and Culture Speakers

 

- Dr. Jeremiah Joven Joaquin is a Full Professor at De La Salle University in Manila. He served as President of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines.  He is the most published scholar and most cited researcher in Scopus-indexed journals among current Filipino philosophers. He is one of the leading figures in analytic philosophy in the Philippines. 

- Dr. Ian Clark Parcon is an Associate Professor at Ateneo de Davao University. He is the Chief Editor of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy. He finished his doctorate in Philosophy at Ateneo de Manila University. He is an Erasmus Mundus scholar in Applied Ethics at Linköping University. His expertise is Jurgen Habermas and deliberative democracy.

- Dr. Hammim B. Casan is the Assistant Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of Mindanao State University in Marawi. He is an Associate Professor of English in the same University. He holds a Doctor of Arts in Literature and Communication. His research largely focuses on comparative literature, literary criticism, ecocriticsm, and English language teaching.

- Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc is an Associate Professor at Ateneo de Davao University. He is an ASAP Yale Global Justice Program fellow. He is the author of Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte. He attended the Global Summer School on Climate Change at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He is one of Asia's Top 100 Philosophy researchers according to the AD Scientific Index.

- Dr. Randy Tudy is an Associate Professor at the University of Southeastern Philippines. He is a former Education Supervisor at CHED. He is a former Professor at Cor Jesu College and is one of the most published scholars in development theory and governance. He has held top leadership roles and positions in research at the ASEAN level.

- Dr. Godiva Eviota-Rivera is a Full Professor at the Mindanao State University - Marawi. She is a trailblazer in Peace education. She holds an MA in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University. She obtained her doctorate in language studies at MSU Marawi. Dr. Rivera is the Secretary General of the Social Ethics Society. She has presented her research on peace education in Tokyo.

- Fr. Urbano Pardillo Jr teaches Philosophy at the St. Francis  Xavier College Seminary and served as its former Dean of Studies. He is also a philosophy professor at the Holy Cross of Davao College. He holds a master's degree in Philosophy at the University of Navarra in Spain. He is the former Editor of the Social Ethics Society Journal of Applied Philosophy.

- Mr. Khalid Rinamuntao serves as a faculty instructor in the Department of Philosophy at the Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus in Marawi City. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Philosophy from MSU Main Campus and is pursuing further graduate studies, taking a Master of Arts in Philosophy at the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City.

- Ms. Ma. Myrna Imperial-Gelvosa is a faculty member in the Junior High School Unit at Ateneo de Davao University. She specializes in educational development, particularly in basic education and inclusive teaching practices. She co-authored a study titled "Culturally Responsive Education and Its Impact on Student Learning, Engagement, and Educational Resources." 

- Ms. Christine Joyce Gallinero is a graduating student taking up Mass Communication at Ateneo de Davao University. A consistent honor student, she is likewise a successful young entrepreneur and philanthropist, actively helping empower women organizations in Davao City. She is a prominent social media figure who encourages young people to pursue their passion.

Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum

The Social Ethics Society, in cooperation with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the Philosophy Department of Mindanao State University - Main, and North Valley College, invite you to a public forum, Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum, this coming May 20, 2026, (Wednesday) from 1PM to 6PM via ZOOM.  This activity intends to gather the voices and ideas from Mindanao and others - the Jesuit and Catholic identity of education, the perspectives of Muslim Filipinos, Lumads, professors and young teachers, including those teaching basic education and the vantage points of college students.
