Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc makes it to AD World Scientific Index Rankings, ranked as Top 3 Scientist at Ateneo de Davao University

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, the chair of the Social Ethics Society, has made it to the AD Scientific Index Rankings for 2022. He is the third-ranked scientist at Ateneo de Davao University. The top researchers of the University are Engr. Andrew Espera (Energy Systems), Dr. Agnes Aranas (Biology), Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (Philosophy), Dr. Mansoor Limba (Islamic Studies), and Fr. Antonio Basilio, SJ (Physics). The Rankings measure the H-index and i10 Index citations of the researchers in the last five years. Dr. Maboloc, who is a Visiting Professor at the American University of Sovereign Nations, has published 18 Scopus-indexed articles and book chapters under Springer, Oxford University Press, Sage, Philosophy Documentation Center, and Cambridge University Press. His most cited article is Globalization and Consumer Culture: Social and Political Implications of the Covid-19 Pandemic. 

The Future of Philippine Democracy (Part 2) - A Political Forum

  The Social Ethics Society and Cor Jesu College will hold a Political Forum on The Future of Philippine Democracy (Part 2) on February 25, 2022, from 2 to 5PM via Zoom. The speakers are Migs Mansueto (MSU-IIT), Dr. Ruby Suazo (University of San Carlos), Danilo Agustin (KU Leuven), and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (Ateneo de Davao University). It will be hosted by Dr. Rogelio Bayod (Cor Jesu College). Menelito Mansueto Jr. (MSU-IIT) will give the Opening Remarks. The speakers are expected to provide a broad perspective on Philippine democracy and the 2022 presidential elections. Such includes the role of the Church in Philippine society and politics, the reality of populism and radicalism, a Ricoeurian analysis of the state, and the nature of the power of the office of the president since the time of the Philippine Commonwealth and how it influences the politics in the country.   Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc has presented 23 conference papers and public lectures in 2021. The conference papers were delivered in international events such as the 21st Asian Bioethics Association Conference, the 6th Universal Science Education Research Network Congress, and the International Public Health Ambassador (IPHA) Conference hosted by Dr. Darryl Macer of the American University of Sovereign Nations. He also delivered plenary lectures in the Philosophical Association of Northern Luzon Annual Conference, the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School Philosophy Conference, and the Philosophical Society of the University of the Philippines - Los Banos Conference. He also gave talks to the faculty and students of the Cebu Tecnological University - Argao Campus, the Notre Dame of Marbel University, and La Salle University in Ozamiz, among others. SES encourages members to join the IPHA Conference

The Social Ethics Society is encouraging its members to join the virtual International Public Health Conference hosted by the American University of Sovereign Nations. The forthcoming event is the 19th edition of the virtual conference that has provided young philosophy faculty that includes Glio Joy Layos of Bukidnon State University, Weldon Sacro of La Salle Ozamiz, and Alvert Dalona of MSU-IIT, among others to present their research to a global group of experts. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc gives lecture on animal rights to DLSU students

  Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc gave a lecture on animal rights and the ethics of animal testing to De La Salle University students last January 7, 2022 via Zoom. In the webinar "Probing the Paw Test," Dr. Maboloc discussed the distinction between animal rights and welfare, the rules and justification for the use of animals in the laboratory for medical research, and the development of computer models as an alternative to the experiments done using live animals. The program was sponsored by the Societas Vitae of DLSU. 

Mind Education Program

Pastor Gichun Cho of the International Youth Federation has introduced Mind Education to the members of the Social Ethics Society in a conference last year. Members of the SES attended the lecture of Pastor Cho in person as well as online via Zoom. The talk was meant to emphasize the value of clear thought in everyday life. Mind education also seeks to incorporate good character in human relations and ethical values in one's work. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc met Pastor Gichun through his Ateneo student Myeongho Kim. The SES Mind Education Program has reached out to the youth sector, public officials through City Councilor Sweet Advincula, students, and several women's associations. 

LSU Ozamiz adopts Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society

  La Salle University in Ozamiz City has adopted Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society as its textbook in Ethics. The book is edited by Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University, with a Foreword by Dr. Darryl Macer of the American University of Sovereign Nations and an Introduction by the philosopher Daniel Mishori of Tel Aviv University. The book contains articles by Prof. Benjie Labastin and Philosophy Chair Gerry Arambala, two topnotch faculty at LSU. 

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc publishes 18 papers in 2021

  Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc has published eighteen (18) papers in 2021, seven (7) of which are indexed in Scopus, information from Google Scholar and ResearchGate indicate. Three of his papers have been published by the Journal of Public Health of Oxford University Press. The other indexed papers and two book chapters are published by Springer. Eight other papers are either published in international journals or a book while three articles are published in local journals.  Dr. Maboloc was invited to contribute three articles in local university journals. "I think that the bottom line is that we must have faith in our local scholars, especially in Mindanao, and that all of us can grow if we continue to cooperate with each other and collaborate with international experts," he said. SES endorses International Climate Change Webinar

  The Social Ethics Society has endorsed the International Climate Change Webinar sponsored by The Asia Institute in Tokyo. The theme of the 4th leg of the Webinar Series, which has been slated this January 8 (Saturday) at 8:30 PM (Philippine Time) is Environmentally Minded Climate Education in Asia. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University is the Guest Speaker. Dr. Maboloc is the author of more than 60 papers, including articles on Climate Justice, Environmental Pragmatism, and Liberal environmentalism. His paper for the event is "How Universities in Developing Countries can Best Respond to the Climate Emergency".
