MSU Marawi Philosophy Department holds Ethics for Nature Seminar

The Philosophy Department of Mindanao State University in Marawi held its 3rd Ethics for Nature Seminar. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc gave the keynote lecture. He discussed the postmodern approach to the philosophy of ecology to an audience of a thousand MSU students. Prof. Efren Oledan and Atty. Aurora Racmat also delivered lectures during the event. MSU-IIT faculty members and Dr. Rogelio Bayod, who is the lead writer of a paper concerning the narratives of locals in post-conflict Marawi City, attended the seminar. Dr. Godiva Eviota-Rivera, assistant dean of the college, introduced the main guest. The group proceeded to ground zero, the center of conflict during the Marawi Siege in 2017. While the war-torn buildings remain, actual progress in the reconstruction effort is observable onsite. SES joins USERN Congress, CRB Maboloc is Plenary Speaker

Dr. Ian Clark Parcon leads other members of the Social Ethics Society in joining the 7th Universal Science Education Research Network (USERN) Hybrid Conference that will start today, November 8 until November 12, 2022.  The participants from the SES are Dr. Parcon (AdDU), Dr. Rogelio Bayod (CJC)  Mr. Gerry Arambala (MSU Gen-San), Mr. Menelito Mansueto (MSU-IIT), and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (AdDU). USERN extended the invitation to the aforementioned. Dr. Maboloc, a member of USERN, is one of the speakers in the annual event. His paper is "The role of indigenous wisdom in scientific revolutions." The researcher argues that science belongs to every culture through the perspective of traditional knowledge. The USERN Congress includes talks by Nobel laureates and the top 1% scientists across the globe in the field of chemistry, medicine, physics, and the social sciences. The Social Ethics Society: Mindanao's Premier Philosophical Association

The Social Ethics Society focuses in giving the young and dynamic ethics & philosophy faculty in Mindanao and the rest of the country the opportunity to present their research outputs in a scholarly engagement while at the same time bringing in top and seasoned scholars, both local and international, to collaborate with its members in a communal spirit anchored on friendship, openness, and a firm commitment to social justice, human dignity, and equality. The SES has invited as speakers during its annual conferences, including the online platform, high caliber scholars like John Weckert (Charles Sturt University), Darryl Macer (AUSN), Wataru Kusaka (Nagoya University), Daniel Mishori (Tel Aviv University), Asuna Yoshizawa (Kyoto University), Goran Collste (Linkoping University), Layne Hartsell (Chulalongkorn University), and Juichiro Tanabe (Waseda University). The SES has also brought in local scholars to give lectures, notably Dr. Zosimo Lee (UP), Dr. Julio Teehankee (DLSU), Dr. J
