The Philosophy Department of Mindanao State University in Marawi held its 3rd Ethics for Nature Seminar. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc gave the keynote lecture. He discussed the postmodern approach to the philosophy of ecology to an audience of a thousand MSU students.
Prof. Efren Oledan and Atty. Aurora Racmat also delivered lectures during the event. MSU-IIT faculty members and Dr. Rogelio Bayod, who is the lead writer of a paper concerning the narratives of locals in post-conflict Marawi City, attended the seminar. Dr. Godiva Eviota-Rivera, assistant dean of the college, introduced the main guest.
The group proceeded to ground zero, the center of conflict during the Marawi Siege in 2017. While the war-torn buildings remain, actual progress in the reconstruction effort is observable onsite. Two mosques have been rebuilt, a museum and park have been finished, and the beautiful Sariwanok Stadium overlooking Lanao Lake has been erected.
In a luncheon meeting, Dr. Rivera discussed the possible collaboration between their department and the Social Ethics Society in the area of research and publication, and other future engagements. Dr. Maboloc gave a short lecture to the department's young faculty on how to publish in Scopus indexed journals. Prof. Omera Serad organized the whole affair.
