The Future of Philippine Democracy (Part 2) - A Political Forum

 


The Social Ethics Society and Cor Jesu College will hold a Political Forum on The Future of Philippine Democracy (Part 2) on February 25, 2022, from 2 to 5PM via Zoom. The speakers are Migs Mansueto (MSU-IIT), Dr. Ruby Suazo (University of San Carlos), Danilo Agustin (KU Leuven), and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (Ateneo de Davao University). It will be hosted by Dr. Rogelio Bayod (Cor Jesu College). Menelito Mansueto Jr. (MSU-IIT) will give the Opening Remarks. The speakers are expected to provide a broad perspective on Philippine democracy and the 2022 presidential elections. Such includes the role of the Church in Philippine society and politics, the reality of populism and radicalism, a Ricoeurian analysis of the state, and the nature of the power of the office of the president since the time of the Philippine Commonwealth and how it influences the politics in the country. By Menelito Mansueto (MSU-IIT)  Christopher Ryan Maboloc is a Davao-based Filipino scholar known for his work in Social and Political Philosophy, Bioethics, Philippine Democracy, and the Philosophy of Technology.
