Dr. Ruby Suazo gives Keynote Address in 4th Ethics for Nature Seminar

Dr. Ruby Suazo of the University of San Carlos delivered the Keynote Address in the 4th Ethics for Nature Seminar last March 15, 2023 at the Mindanao State University in Marawi. He explained the concept of environmental ethics in the context of the Filipino culture. 



The big event, organized and hosted by the MSU Main Philosophy Department, was attended by more than a thousand students who were eager to listen and engage with the speakers and faculty who graced the activity. Atty. Aurora Lyn Racmat, the chair for Philosophy, gave the Opening Remarks. 


Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of the Ateneo de Davao University talked about the idea of inter-generational and intra-generational justice in relation to the problem of climate change, including concepts such as the "polluter pays principle" and "historic pollution."


Atty. Hamid Barra, a well-respected law professor and presently, the Minister of Human Settlements and Development in BARMM, emphasized during his lecture the role of Islam as a religion and way of life in the pursuit of holistic progress and lasting peace. 

The Ethics seminar is held every semester at MSU as part of its curriculum. It is meant to promote social and environmental  awareness, explains Dr. Godiva Eviota-Rivera, the Assistant Dean of the College of Social Sciences & Humanities.

Christopher Ryan Maboloc: An Intellectual Biography
