Fr. Veloso and SES hint at future plans

Founded in 2010, the Social Ethics Society has brought the best scholars to Mindanao, including Daniel Mishori, Wataru Kusaka, and Zosimo Lee. One man made all these things possible - Fr. Dexter Veloso, SES president. The SES is the first and only philosophical association in Mindanao registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Fr. Veloso has a no nonsense type of charismatic leadership and has in fact elevated the SES step by step into internationalization. Through his initiative, SES members have joined conferences in Japan and Thailand. He has also secured funding for the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy.

"Fr. Dex makes things possible for us," says Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, who founded the SES with the late Dr. Romy Bautista. "Young teachers like him and we see him as our cornerstone," he added. Through Fr. Veloso's initiative, the SES has held conferences in beautiful venues such as Pearl Farm and Secdea Resort.

The SES amended its by-laws to give way to Fr. Veloso's second term (2021-23). He first served from 2015-17. The SES will pursue its first international conference next year. Its core officials also hinted at keeping its independence as an organization as it seeks to realize its vision for philosophy in Mindanao.
