Dr. Jeffry Ocay, Dr. Victor Aguilan and SES debate Philippine Politics in SES International Conference

The Social Ethics Society, in cooperation with Cor Jesu College, successfully concluded the Philippine Politics and Culture International Conference. Scholars debated difficult issues pertaining to Philippine politics and culture, including the role of religion in a liberal society, IP rights, deliberative democracy and political agonism, and peace building paradigms. Two Japanese scholars, Dr. Juichiro Tanabe of Waseda University in Tokyo and Ms  Asuna Yoshizawa of Kyoto University, gave talks on holistic peace. Dr. Roger Bayod, who managed the virtual event well as host, discussed IP Rights.

Dr. Jeffry Ocay and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc led the lively interactions and engagements. Dr. Victor Aguilan of Silliman University and the up and coming scholar from the Visayas State University, Beljun Enaya, both presented promising papers explaining the contentious nature of politics and democracy. Below are some of the slides presented by other researchers on the theme "Radical Politics and the Future of Philippine Democracy."
