Research on Historical and Structural Injustice

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc has visited Cotabato City and Lake Sebu to conduct his research on the roots of the historical and structural injustice in Mindanao. He was assisted by Atty. Edwin Matura of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Ministry of Human Settlements and by Dr. Aldrin Quintero of the Notre Dame of Marbel University. He also met with civil society organizations, representatives from the academe, and BARMM.

Dr. Maboloc visited the office of HWPL Philippines at Kutawato Greenland Initiatives, and had a short dialogue with young peace advocates led by Ms. Alecka Fajardo and Ms. Rica Feliciano. He also went to Notre Dame University in Cotabato City, Lake Sebu, and NDMU in Koronadal City. The research seeks to trace the historical as well as the structural issues pertaining to the Mindanao problem from the lens of the stakeholders.

The research is funded by the University Research Council of the Ateneo de Davao University. Prof. Gerry Arambala of MSU GenSan serves as Dr. Maboloc's research assistant. A previous research by the same author, also funded by the Ateneo, resulted in the publication of the book Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte in 2022. The research is expected to be completed in six months.
