Fr. Dexter Veloso, the man behind the internationalization of the SES

Fr. Dexter Veloso, President of the Social Ethics Society, may be considered as a silent worker, but he is a strong force to reckon with. This was followed by the 2019 Gene Editing Ethics Conference at Chulalongkorn University, the 22nd Asian Bioethics Conference in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (2023) and the 23rd Asian Bioethics Conference in Bangkok, Thailand in March this year. The latest initiative of the SES through the leadership of Fr. Dexter is the SES-PUP International Ethics Conference at Waseda University in Tokyo Japan this September. AdDU philosophy prof tops AD Scientific Index Rankings (Philippines) in Philosophy for the third straight year

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, an associate professor at Ateneo de Davao University, has been ranked first in the Subfield Philosophy for the third straight year (2023, 2024, 2025) in the Alper-Doger AD Scientific Index. The AD Scientific Index uses the database of Google Scholar to track the published papers and citations of academics around the world. The H-index is an indicator of the quality and value of a scholar's research work.  According to Judy Hunter, "ideas are the currency in academia," adding that citations are important "to track the genealogy of ideas or their sources and origin". Citations, in this regard, will enable a researcher to recognize the valuable intellectual contributions of a fellow researcher. According to Dr. Jordan Peterson, more than 80% of papers in the Humanities do not get cited. In this sense, getting cited is a proof of the rigor of one's scholarly work.  The AD Scientific Index ranks scholars in the Social Sciences, Mat...

The SES-PUP International Ethics Conference at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan

The world is at the crosspoint of social, political, and cultural tensions. As the world moves closer into the next phase of the modern Industrial Revolution, we are witnessing many political disruptions, the threat of climatic change, and social upheavals that challenge our present ethical norms and moral perspectives. Today, nations are linked together by issues of globalization, social justice, and environmental sustainability. The moral questions need to be posed if humanity must find the right direction and determine a better future for the generations ahead. Liberal and post-liberal concepts of peace are at the forefront of these vicissitudes. We can mention the present and continuing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, including the peacebuilding efforts in Mindanao in the Philippines after many decades of conflict. This ethics conference, a joint undertaking of the Social Ethics Society and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Manila will gather international researchers, ...
