Mansueto to present Gramsci paper in Japan Conference

 

Professor Menelito Mansueto of MSU-IIT will present his paper "Antonio Gramsci’s ‘Organic’ and ‘Traditional’ Intellectuals: Their Role in the Mobilization of a Walking Protest in the Sumilao Farmers’ “Walk for Land, Walk for Justice" in the SES-PUP International Ethics Conference at Waseda University in Tokyo this September 5&6, 2025. 

The conference, organized by the Social Ethics Society and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in cooperation with the Center for International Education of Waseda University, gathers more than 40 international scholars to discuss climate justice, Artificial Intelligence in education, Philippine Democracy, Human Poverty, and Peace Building. 

Mansueto teaches philosophy in one of the most prestigious universities in the country. The youthful researcher and scholar from Bohol is also a well-published academic. He is the author of Decolonial Turn in the Philippine South. He has also published papers in local and international journals, including a chapter in Radical Politics in the Philippines.

Mansueto is ranked number 19 in the Alper-Doger World Scientific Index Rankings for the Subfield Philosophy in the Philippines. He is the Managing Editor of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy. His most recent engagement is the Department of Science and Technology funded research led by CTU Professor Dr. Anesito Cutillas on Indigenous Cultures in South and North Cotabato.

Context and Culture: Situating Mindanao's Position in the General Education Curriculum
