Prof. Göran Collste to keynote 13th SES Conference

  Swedish philosopher Göran Collste, professor emeritus at Linköping University in Sweden, will be the Keynote Speaker in the 13th Social Ethics Society Conference. Professor Collste is the author of the book Global Rectificatory Justice (Palgrave Macmillan). He will talk about multidisciplinary research in relation to applied ethics. The event will be held from October 27-28, 2022 at Holiday Ocean View Resort in Samal. The theme of the SES Conference is "Weaving Multidisciplinary Research." The plenary speakers are Ms. Cathy Mae Toquero (MSU-GenSan), Dr. Rec Eguia (USEP-CDM), Fr. John Guo (Society of Mary), and Dean Marcos Monderin Jr. (USM).  Papers in philosophy, ethics, the social sciences, politics and governance, development theory and education are welcome. The Social Ethics Society will hold its 13th Annual Conference this coming October 27-28, 2022 at Holiday Ocean View Resort in Samal Island. Multidisciplinary research intends to address the problems faced by human society in an integrated way. Researchers employ the tools and skills to determine the common questions and enable a culture of research that is open to the spirit of collaboration with other disciplines. Dr. Ian Clark Parcon is appointed as Chief Editor of the SES Journal

  On the basis of a Board Resolution passed on July 23, 2022, Dr. Ian Clark Parcon has been appointed as Chief Editor of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy. The Board, headed by Fr. Dexter Veloso, also unanimously moved for the reorganization of the editorial board. The journal will now have two areas of concentration - First, General Philosophy & Applied Ethics and second, Development Theory and Governance.  Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc will return as an editor. He and Dr. Peter Elicor are co-editors for General Philosophy and Applied Ethics while Dr. Rogelio Bayod and Dr. Randy Tudy will be co-editors for Development Theory and Governance. New submissions to the journal may be sent to icrparcon@addu.edu.ph. The SES Journal of Applied Philosophy is a peer-reviewed journal listed in the Asean Citation Index.

Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte officially launched

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc's book Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte was launched last July 23, 2022 at Balai Torrentira Cafe. The author shared his personal experiences and struggles as a scholar. The event, hosted by Fr. Dexter Veloso, president of the Social Ethics Society, was attended by people in the academe, government, and civil society.  Among those in attendance were Dr. Rec Eguia of USEP-CDM, Dean Marcos Monderin of USM, Atty. Dennis Navarro (DENR-EMB), Fr.John Guo of the Society of Mary, Fr. Urbano Pardillo Jr., past dean at St. Francis Xavier Seminary, Dr. Randy Tudy (CHED), Dr. Ian Parcon (AdDU), Ms  Janua Cunanan (AdDU), Atty. Mice Fernandez, Atty. Julius Salarza, and Atty. Jamil Matalam (Assistant Dean, USEP College of Law). In closing, the author emphasized the value of relationships and how, in the end, such will matter in realizing social change and achieving justice. 13th Social Ethics Society Conference

The 13th Social Ethics Society Conference will be held this coming October 27-28, 2022 at the Island Garden City of Samal. It will be hosted by Mindanao State University - General Santos City and the University of Southern Mindanao. The conference will be chaired by Dr. Ian Clark Parcon. Fr. Dexter Veloso is the Over-all chair of the undertaking. The Call for Papers will be released soon. The event is in-person. The theme of the international Conference is multidisciplinary. It will accept papers in philosophy, development and governance, ethics and politics, the social sciences and education. Dr. Goran Collste of Linkoping University is the Keynote Speaker. The plenary speakers are Dr. Rec Eguia (past Dean and Professor, Graduate School at USEP-CDM), Fr. John Guo (rector, Society of Mary, Davao City), Dean Marcos Monderin (USM), and top scholar Cathy Mae Toquero (MSU-GenSan).

Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte to be launched on July 23, author meets Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte

  Fr. Dexter Veloso, president of the Social Ethics Society, will sponsor the Book Launching of Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc's Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte this coming July 23, 2022, 9AM at Balai Torrentira Cafe in Los Amigos, Davao City. Meanwhile, Dr. Maboloc met with Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte last July 13 at Davao City Hall. The author presented a copy of the book to the local chief executive. He was accompanied by his wife Ms. Marietta Maboloc and top caterer Raymond Zapanta. Dr. Maboloc and the Mayor talked about the legacy of  former President Rodrigo Duterte.
