CALL FOR ABSTRACTS


The Social Ethics Society will hold its 13th Annual Conference this coming October 27-28, 2022 at Holiday Ocean View Resort in Samal Island. The theme of the event is "Weaving Multidisciplinary Perspectives." The gathering will be hosted by the University of Southern Mindanao and Mindanao State University - General Santos City. Swedish philosopher Göran Collste, professor emeritus at Linköping University in Sweden, is the Keynote Speaker.
Multidisciplinary research intends to address the problems faced by human society in an integrated way. Researchers employ the tools and skills to determine the common questions and enable a culture of research that is open to the spirit of collaboration with other disciplines. The basic aim is bridging the gap and determining how certain insights can be shared, embracing pluralism and openness to otherness. In the same way as finding man's soul in the modern world, as Carl Jung puts it, what is sought is a revolutionary shift in paradigm when it comes to the role of holistic thinking in different disciplines.

Papers in the field of philosophy (general), bioethics, the social sciences, Philippine politics and democracy, development theory, and education are welcome. Abstracts (150 to 300 words) should be submitted to the Dr. Ian Clark Parcon, Conference Chair. Send via email to icrparcon@addu.edu.ph not later than August 30, 2022. Accepted abstracts for presentation will be announced on September 15, 2022. 

The plenary speakers are experts in their field: Prof. Cathy Mae Toquero, MSU-GenSan (Education), Dr. Rec Eguia, USEP-CDM (Development and Governance), Fr. John Guo, Society of Mary (Environmental Ethics), and Dean Marcos Monderin Jr., USM (Philosophy and the Social Sciences).

The event is fully in-person. The registration fee is 5,000 pesos, inclusive of meals, resort accommodation, access to all sessions, and certificates. The amount also includes the SES membership fee. Payments can be deposited to the SES via bank transfer (as may be requested) or paid onsite.
