The Reactors - Peace and Conflict Studies Online Forum

  Dr. Rec Eguia is a Professor at the University of Southeastern Philippines - College of Development Management in Davao City. He is a former dean and faculty regent. He did post doc studies at MIT. A sought after speaker, he is a futures thinking expert.  Mr. Alvert Dalona is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology. He is the former chairman of MSU-IIT's Philosophy Department. He is taking doctoral studies at Saint Louis University. The two esteemed academics will be the reactors in the talks to be given by Dr. Juichiro Tanabe of Waseda University and Dr  Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University in the Peace and Conflict Studies Online Forum on July 5, 2024. 

SES to hold first Webinar for 2024

The Social Ethics Society, in cooperation with Waseda University and the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology Philosophy Department, will hold its first Webinar for 2024 this coming July 5. The speakers are Dr. Juichiro Tanabe of Waseda University and Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University. Both will talk about Peace and Conflict Studies in relation to the War on Gaza. The reactors include Mr. Alvert Dalona (MSU-IIT) and Dr. Rec Eguia (USEP). Ateneo prof to present paper in 25th World Congress of Philosophy in Rome

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, an associate philosophy professor at Ateneo de Davao University, will be presenting his research paper "Cultural Imperialism as the Face of Oppression" in the 25th World Congress of Philosophy in Rome, Italy. The event will be held from August 1-8, 2024. The theme of the congress is "Philosophy across Boundaries."  Dr. Maboloc will be joining the Political Philosophy Section of the congress. The event is held every five years since 1900, interrupted only by the two world wars. It will be attended by philosophers, ethics scholars, and other top academics around the world. This year's conference is organized by Sapienza University. 

Development scholars of the Social Ethics Society

Dr. Rec Eguia is one of the most outstanding development scholars in Mindanao, having studied at MIT for his post-doc. He teaches and is a former dean at the University of Southeastern Philippines - College of Development Management. He is an expert in futures thinking and has lectured on the subject at various universities. Dr. Anesito Cutillas is an associate professor at Cebu Technological University - Argao Campus. He has served as dean of college and has done extensive research work with the renowned Dr. Jeffry Ocay, university professor at the Eastern Visayas State University. Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, ASAP Fellow, Yale University Global Justice Program

Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc (Ateneo de Davao University) is one of the 14 fellows chosen in the Academics Stand Against Poverty (ASAP) Global Justice Program at Yale University under the leadership of Professor Thomas Pogge. The fellowship runs for a year. Below is a description of his research project: "My research is about the ways and various institutional mechanisms that can help address the problem of poverty in the Bangsamoro. To be able to do this, I am working with top Muslim scholars in the region, including Dr. Mansoor Limba (Ateneo de Davao University), Datu Muss Lidasan (Al Qalam Institute), and Atty. Yussuf Abdullah. My research work looks into the realities of the shadow economy in Muslim Mindanao and how it affects the lives of people. Prof. Thomas Pogge acts as my mentor in this project." SES Journal to release Special Issue for Graduate Students

The Editorial Board of the SES Journal of Applied Philosophy has approved the release of a Special Issue intended for the papers and other scholarly work of graduate students (MA and PhD) in philosophy and other related fields. Submissions must adhere to the standards set by the journal. All manuscripts will be sent for review. The journal's editorial consultants include Dr. Martin Reglitz (Warwick), Dr. Daniel Mishori (Tel Aviv), Dr. Goran Collste (Linköping), and Dr. Darryl Macer (AUSN), among others. Young Bohol scholar to release first book, Decolonial Turn in the Philippine South

Mr. Menelito Mansueto, a young scholar from Bohol who is teaching Philosophy at the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, will soon release his first book entitled Decolonial Turn in the Philippine South. The book will showcase the postmodern and radical approach to philosophy that has defined Philippine Studies recently, using the vantage point of such scholars as Enrique Dussel and Karl Gaspar. Mansueto has published important papers on the subject. This monograph is part of the Social Ethics Society Book Publishing Project. This new copyrighted material will be released internationally under KDP Amazon Publishing in the United States and will be available worldwide. Mr. Mansueto is taking PhD studies under Dr. Darryl Macer of the American University of Sovereign Nations. He has taught at Colegio de San Juan de Letran, FEU Diliman, the University of Santo Tomas, and BISU in Tagbilaran City.
