The Social Ethics Society hosted its First Hybrid and 11th Annual Conference, held at San Isidro Parish Hall, Marilog District, Davao City on October 26, 2020. The theme of the event is Philosophy in the Midst of the Pandemic. Topics include the Capability Approach and Human Development, Religion in the Time of Covid-19, Philippine Democracy, and the Future of Muslim Mindanao. The plenary speakers were Prof. Ian Clark Parcon and Atty. Jamil Matalam.
The paper presenters, both online and in-person, were Dr. Moises Torrentira of the University of Southeastern Philippines, Mr. Giovanni Udtohan of the University of Mindanao, Mr. Aldrin Quintero of Notre Dame of Marbel University, and Mr. Gerry Arambala of La Salle University - Ozamiz. Fr. Banny Pardillo, Dr. Roger Bayod, and Dr. Randy Tudy served as members of the Organizing Committee.
Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University was the moderator of the talks. He was assisted by Ms. Yrish Vaughnce Plaza of UM. Fifteen participated in person while 78 joined online via GoogleMeet. Fr. Dexter Veloso, who was newly elected as SES president, hosted the gathering. The Social Ethics Society also held its Annual Assembly after the event.
