SES chair attends Global Summer School on Climate Change at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand
De. Christopher Ryan Maboloc, an Associate Professor at Ateneo de Davao University and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Social Ethics Society, attended the Global Summer School on Climate Change and Human Mobility at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand, May 4-8, 2026. He is one of the 13 who were chosen out of the more than 800 applicants.
The event gathered scholars and activists from the Netherlands, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka, to discuss climate change resilience and sustainability, migration and displacement, data driven policy analysis, indigenous peoples and urbanization in relation to the existential threat from changing climate landscapes and patterns across the globe.
The gathering included lectures, workshops, and inputs from experts. The group also did some investigative fieldwork in Ayutthaya as well as a cultural immersion in Thailand's northern region. The event is jointly hosted by Thammasat University, Chiang Mai University, and AIT. The event is organized by HOPESEA (Humanitarian Observatory for Policy and Education in Southeast Asia) and is funded by the Canadian Government.
